‘House Party’ cast to reunite for virtual fundraiser

The cast of “House Party” is partying like it’s 1990, reuniting to raise money for voter registration and mobilization efforts.

Stars from New Line Cinema’s classic 90’s movie — including: Kid n’ Play’s Christopher Reid and Christopher Martin; Full Force’s Brian “B-Fine” George, Lucien “Bowlegged Lou” George Jr., and Paul Anthony’ and Groove B. Chill’s Gene “Groove” Allen and Daryl “Chill” Mitchel — will team up for an Oct. 23 virtual script reading.

The event — with a minimum $1 donation for viewers — will raise money for Rock the Vote, the non-partisan organization announced Friday.

In addition to a script reading, the cast will also “be discussing the importance of voting and helping voters navigate the voting process in this unusual, but critically important election,” organizers said.

“We’re thrilled some of the most loved stars from this classic are joining us to bring the party, the energy and joy we so desperately need this year and help us turnout young voters in this critical election,” Rock the Vote President Carolyn DeWitt said in a statement.

Several groups have coordinated nostalgia-filled reunions that double as fundraisers this election cycle. Last month, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston joined an all-star cast for a reading of the 1982 film “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” that benefited various nonprofits’ coronavirus relief efforts. Earlier this month, actors Ben Affleck, Matthew McConaughey and Parker Posey joined together for a “Dazed and Confused” table reading that raised money for voting participation efforts in Texas.
