2021 Porsche 911 GT3 interior leaked

Interior of next-gen Weissach circuit weapon leaks, revealing 9000rpm redline and swan-neck wing.

The upcoming Porsche 911 GT3’s interior has leaked online, ahead of its expected unveiling in the coming months.

Two images posted on Spanish forum Cochespias showcase the next-generation GT3’s dashboard, which looks largely identical to that of lesser 911 Carrera and Turbo models.

However, look closer and you’ll spot a number of GT3-specific details: GT3 branding on the instrument cluster displays, a ‘Race-Tex’ suede-wrapped steering wheel (a $350 option on Turbo S models, but likely standard on the track-focused GT3), and a graphic of the car’s side profile.

While blurry in these leaked images, the graphic appears to show the large, ‘swan-neck’ rear wing flaunted by GT3 prototypes spotted testing on the Nurburgring in recent months.

The presence of a yellow-accented tachometer with a 9000rpm redline, plus a trio of pedals and a manual gear stick between the seats, appear to confirm what many already expected: powering the new GT3 will be a high-revving naturally-aspirated flat-six, likely an uprated version of the 718 Spyder and Cayman GT4’s 4.0-litre ‘9A2 Evo’ unit, paired to a six-speed manual gearbox.

A dual-clutch automatic transmission should also be available to buyers.

Given the outgoing 991.2-generation 911 GT3 developed 368kW/460Nm from its 4.0-litre flat-six, we’d expect outputs closer to 390kW and 500Nm for the new model, complemented by a raft of chassis and suspension upgrades to improve upon the already-rapid performance of lesser 911s on-track.

Spy shots also reveal a full, track-focused styling and aerodynamics package to match the GT3’s blistering performance, including the aforementioned ‘swan-necked’ spoiler, more aggressive bumpers, a functional rear diffuser, central twin exhaust tips, and bonnet vents to improve airflow.

The ‘swan-neck’ rear spoiler design helps to remove turbulence underneath the wing – where much of the downforce is produced – and creates a cleaner flow of air from the rear of the vehicle, which also reduces drag.

The 2021 Porsche 911 GT3 is expected to make its official debut in early 2021 – with a recent auction listing hinting at a January unveiling – ahead of a possible Australian launch by the end of next year.
