The Needham Garden Club invites the public to view two of its online programs, “Covid Flower Arranging” and “Orchids.”

“Covid Flower Arranging” features club member Debra Kraft demonstrating foam-free flower arranging, using materials from the home and garden. Kraft is a flower designer who owns Debra Kraft Floral Design in Westwood.

The program “Orchids,” presented by Tom Kuligowski, is inspired by the book “Orchid Thief” by Susan Orlean. Kuligowski’s presentation will feature the story of four rare orchids, their plight and the plight of their natural habitat, the Florida Everglades. Kuligowski is an avid orchid grower, accredited by the American Orchid Society and an award-winning photographer with over 45 years of experience. He is based in South Florida and is an expert on the rare orchids cowhorn, clamshell, dollar and ghost, mentioned in “The Orchid Thief.” Using photos, Kuligowski will describe some of the history of the Everglades, his treks through swampland to search for orchids, the rare orchids and many of the orchids that he cultivates.

In addition, two Needham Garden Club members will contribute to the program. Cathie Cummings will talk about the care of orchids in the home. Lyn Jekowski will show pictures of unusually formed orchids and a Pecha Kucha style slide show of orchids.
